Yes. The photochromic lenses darken automatically when exposed to UV light and clear again when you move into the shade. The change takes a few seconds in direct sunlight.
Note that car windshields block most UV radiation, so the lenses will not fully darken while driving — in that case, the polarized layer still reduces glare effectively.

Will they fit a larger or smaller face?
